1. ROVING FESTIVAL TAKES ITS SHOWS TO ALBERTA
Edmonton is hosting the 2004 edition of Magnetic North-a national theatre festival focusing on Canadian-written and produced original work. It helps that the city is already home to a lively theatre culture. The festival was offered free-of-charge use of venues, including black-box theatres in Edmonton's downtown and the U of A campus.

2. STUDENT HUNGER NOT A CATCH PHRASE, SAYS PROTESTER HUNGRY FOR CHANGE
More then 3,100 post-secondary students in Canada rely on campus food banks every month for their groceries, the first-ever survey to track their usage shows. Standing at the foot of Parliament Hill, under a banner that read Students: Hungry for change, representatives of the Canadian Association of Food Banks and the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations blamed the situation on cuts in federal funding for post-secondary education in the past decade. No University of Alberta mention.

Summary of recent U of A study showed children who played in parks with treated wood have approximately five times more arsenic on their hands than those playing in non-treated wood structures. Study found that intake of arsenic still lower than average daily intake of arsenic from water and food.
