Abdominal imaging fellowship

The University of Alberta Abdominal Imaging Fellowship is a one-year postgraduate medical education training program, starting 01 August 2003. A full range of diagnostic and vascular ultrasound, CT, MR, fluoroscopic and interventional procedures are performed.

The fellowship involves rotations at the two referral hospitals in the Capital Health Authority, the University of Alberta Hospital and the Royal Alexandra Hospital. These two hospitals include ten intensive care units; two major trauma and emergency units; and heart, lung, liver, kidney and pancreatic transplant programs for adult and pediatric patients.

The Stollery Children's Hospital is incorporated within the University of Alberta Hospital. This is a fellowship with extensive hands-on experience in the clinical workload including all interventional procedures.

The two major referral centres include five G.E. helical CT scanners, including a multi-slice scanner, three Siemens 1.5 Tesla Symphony/Sonata MRI units, multiple state of the art general purpose and vascular ultrasound machines, six angiography/interventional suites and a wide range of fluoroscopy equipment.

Two additional community hospitals in the Capital Health Authority are available for elective periods. Opportunities for research and teaching residents and medical students exist. Further information about the department is available on our website http://www.ualberta.ca/~raddi/.

Deadline for application is December 15, 2002.
