Research Interests:

I am interested in understanding how children generalize from procedural knowledge to conceptual knowledge and the moments of insight surrounding those generalizations. Studies on the development of mathematical cognition are suited to this task because we are able to dissociate procedures from concepts and can investigate relations between the two in cognitive development. I am particularly interested in understanding the differences in the developmental trajectories of generalization in typically developing children and children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Finally, my interests extend to applying findings from the laboratory to educational and clinical settings, and vice versa, in order to inform both academic research agendas, and clinical and educational practices.
