Canadian Language and Literacy Research Network - Numeracy

The Board of Directors of CLLRNet recently approved numeracy as a component of the language and literacy agenda of the Network.  Our lab is proposing a study to meet this mandate.

The study our lab is proposing involves the optimization of children's understanding of mathematical equivalence. We propose to conduct a series of multi-site studies in which theoretically driven methods of providing instruction on equivalence are compared, implemented, and tested. These studies will link basic cognitive and developmental research on children’s mathematical understanding with teachers’ professional development and classroom practices.
