I am a PhD candidate in the Department of Computing Science, University of Alberta. My supervisors are Dr. Anup Basu and Dr. Irene Cheng. My current research interests include probability models, sensor fusion, stereo vision, and computer vision. I received a Master of Science in Computing Science from the same department in September 2007 under the supervision of Dr. Pierre Boulanger. I received a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Technology from the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Beihang University, Beijing, China, under the supervision of Dr. Zhang Xiong in July 2005. For those who want to know more about my educational history, I completed my high school study at Beijing No. 4 High School in July 2001.

Gallery & Others

Other than research work, I love to create something artistic in my spare time. I have been learning and studying traditional Chinese painting, charcoal drawing and watercolor painting since I was four. During fall 2008, I started to learn 3ds Max. The following three images show a model that I created using 3ds Max based on the Alpha fighter appeared in the animation TV series "Robotech: The New Generation" and also in a 2007 movie "Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles".

The following are two drawings (images shown in 1/4 resolution) using the style that I am currently exploring. This drawing style came into my mind at least one year ago, partially inspired by the ancient cave paintings. After many experiments on this new style, here comes the Immortal series. "The thinker dies; but his thoughts are beyond the reach of destruction. Men are mortal, but ideas are immortal." — Walter Lippmann (1889 – 1974)
