A real polymer molecule is too difficult to simulate and we don't need that detailed information if we are only interested in its mechanical properties, such as relaxation and stretching, which are the main concerns in applications such as drag reduction. So much simplier models including FENE and FENE-P have been introduced. FENE is a single bead-spring chain where the spring force is nonlinear while FENE-P is a statistical closure for the FENE dumbbell case.
In this project, we study the polymer(FENE) behaviors subjected to all kinds of complex flows. QPolymer is trying to visualized the bead-spring movement for different parameters such as the number of beads and flow type.
