Email: saneej@ualberta.ca Location of work: Chemical and Materials Engineering Building (Room 268) - University of Alberta Personal Details: My home country is India and and I come from Trivandrum in Kerala located at the southern tip of the country. I obtained my undergraduate dergree in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Madras(2005). I like playing badminton, soccer and swimming. I listen to a variety of music and especially like hip-hop, pop and alternative rock. I read a lot about computer hardware news from internet. Photography is another special interest of mine. Other Interests: Badminton, Soccer, Listening to music, Photography Area of Research: Support Vector Machines(SVM), Fault Detection Support Vector Machines are a powerful tool in the field of Machine Learning for Classification and Pattern Recognition tasks. They have several advantages over other learning algorithms like ANNs in terms of requiring lesser training data, robustness to outliers and more generalisation capabilities. SVMs have been found to give good results in Fault detection applications where the main task is classification. Extension of this concept to the problem of regression has lead to a new method of regression called Support Vector Regression (SVR). Several authors have shown applications of SVR for the prediction of outputs given input data. We are exploring the application of these tools to data obtained from various engineering processes. Presentations: Classification Techniques for Hand-Written Digit Recognition Interesting Links I Visit: www.raaga.com, www.wikipedia.org, www.dictionary.com, and www.cricinfo.com. |
