Location of work: Chemical and Materials
Engineering Building (Room 280D) - University of Alberta
Personal Details: MSc in Chemical Engineering (2004) from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, and BSc in Chemical Engineering (1999) from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh. Now, enrolling in Doctoral Program in Process Control Group in the Chemical and materials Engineering department at University of Alberta.
Area of Research: Advanced control in twin-screw
extrusion processes is my area of research. The main objective and challenge
of my project is to obtain a good fundamental or first-principles model
of a complex polymer process such as a twin-screw extruder (TSE). Such
a model can be validated with useful process information that can be extracted
from process data using multivariate statistical techniques, and then
the model can be used for prediction of final properties, fault detection
and process modelling. In this research, the effect of process and composition
parameters on the properties of a polymer blend prepared in a TSE will
be identified by obtaining an empirical model via system identification.
Moreover, controllability and optimum conditions will be determined from
the obtained models.
My previous research work on polymer modified asphalt was
published in the following:
