Location of work: Chemical and Materials Engineering Building (Room 266A)- University of Alberta

Personal Details: I got my Bachelor of Science degree (1990) and Master of Science (1993) from Northeastern University in China in applied mathematics. After graduation, I became an academic staff in Northeastern University till I joined in the University of Hong Kong for my Ph. D study. I got my Ph. D degree in 2000 in control engineering from Mechanical Engineering Department. From 2001, I have been working in the Department of Chemical and Materials Engineering, University of Alberta as a research fellow. My research interests are model reduction, controls and data analysis.

Research: My current research project is on the reconstruction of missing data. In chemical engineering, processes are often studied through the available data. Due to multi-rate sampling, sensor failures etc., some data are often missing. Sometimes it is necessary to estimate or reconstruct the missing data. Spectrum analysis is one of the methods to reconstruct the data. Currently, I am using spectrum estimation method to analyze some industrial data.
