Research Interests

Gene discovery in agriculturally important species - we are using genetics and bioinformatics to understand the genetic basis of economically important traits.

Rumen bacteria - we are using bioinformatics approaches and microbial profiling methods to study the bacterial populations in the bovine rumen, to better understand their relationships to host traits like feed efficiency.

Automated genome annotation - we have developed several software tools to aid in the analysis and annotation of bacterial genomes. These tools will be extended and refined so that they can identify a broader range of sequence features with better accuracy.
