A University of Alberta Partnership Project in Hebei, China


   

 

This project has brought together Chinese and Canadian partners representing commercial, academic, and school interests to collaborate on the provision of curriculum and teacher development programs for primary school teachers (Grades 4-6) in Hebei province, China. The basic objective is to assist Chinese teachers of English with implementation of broad-based curriculum reform undertaken in Hebei province. In particular, teachers have introduced pedagogical approaches that are student-centered and holistic, and language learning approaches that are integrative and communicative.

 

Interim Project Report - This report summarizes project activities to 2001, and offers background literature about teacher development in China (also available in PDF format).
