TSEDAKAH

TSEDAKA is an ancient Jewish tradition of donating money for the community.

Many families have the custom of donating money to Tsedakah on Friday, just before the Shabbat candles are lit. The Hebrew word Tsedakah is related to the word "tsedek", which means justice. A special tsedaka box is placed next to the candlesticks. It can be a very meaningful way to end the week and bring in Shabbat.
