English Proficiency Requirement

English Language Proficiency Requirement - Undergraduate English Language Proficiency Requirement - Graduate

There are several accepted ways to demonstrate that you meet UAlberta's English Language Proficiency requirement.

Exchange applicants may already meet the English Language Proficiency requirements based on the terms of the institutional exchange agreement, the university they have attended, or the country in which they reside. Some conditions apply.

Undergraduate exchange students may also have the following options to demonstrate English Language Proficiency. Please contact the UAlberta Exchange Coordinator to find out if these options are available to you.

  • Send a copy of official English language test results from a test taken at your home institution.
  • Obtain a letter template from UAlberta that can be completed by the exchange office at your home institution, which will attest to you level of English proficiency.

Some departments and faculties have higher English language proficiency requirements for graduate students than those shown through the “English Language Proficiency Requirement – Graduate” link provided above. It is your responsibility to find out, before applying, about the minimum English language proficiency requirements that you will need to demonstrate.
