Entrance Requirements

Completion of Five Academic Subjects

Students applying for admission from high school (higher secondary education) must show that they have successfully completed five academic subjects. The academic subjects you need to present will vary by program and Faculty. Find out which subjects you will need to present for your program of choice with the program finder.

Admission is based on a competitive average in the required courses for a program. The following are only guidelines of what minimum GPA/grades/marks are considered competitive.

Not all international grading scales are equal and the final determination will be made by the Office of the Registrar upon submission of an application for admission. These guidelines are for informational purposes only. In the case of discrepancy between this website and the University of Alberta International Admissions Unit, the decision of the International Admissions Unit is final.

Bachillerato Requirements

You can enter the University of Alberta using your Bachillerato. To obtain a conditional offer, you would need your school results including the mid-point grades of your final year. Your offer would become unconditional upon receipt of your final results and meeting the University of Alberta's requirements.

The University of Alberta also accepts other curricula for entry, including AP, IB, and US curricula. View our Entrance Averages.
