Come and live on campus at UAlberta!

Living on campus while you study at UAlberta will be a great way to enjoy university life, make new friends, and get involved with the community. There are nine student residences at UAlberta, each offering different lifestyles and accommodations to suit your needs.

Applying for housing at UAlberta

International undergraduate students are guaranteed on-campus housing for their first year if they apply for residence by April 30!

First-year students can now apply for admission and residence using the same application form. If you don’t apply for residence at the same time as admission, you may still submit an application later through Residence Services.

Where do first-year students live?

  • If you are a first-year international student on North Campus, you can live in Lister Centre.
  • Campus Saint-Jean students can live in Residence Saint-Jean.
  • Students attending Augustana Campus in Camrose, Alberta, can live in the First Year Complex at Augustana Residence.

    Living Off-Campus

Living off-campus is another convenient option for UAlberta students.

The Main Campus and Campus Saint-Jean are located centrally in Edmonton and near the trendy neighbourhood of Old Strathcona, home to great restaurants, shops, and entertainment. Many UAlberta students choose to live in one of the surrounding neighbourhoods in this area, which offers excellent bus access and walking distance to the campuses.

UAlberta has two subway stations on the main campus, which also makes it convenient for students to live in other areas of Edmonton. For example, the subway ride from downtown Edmonton takes only five minutes.
