Study Abroad

Students at the University of Alberta are given the opportunity to broaden their education through a wide variety of international experiences. Study or work abroad experiences can potentially take you to dozens of different countries around the world, on six different continents. Generous scholarships and funRobotog arrangements make international experiences accessible while you study at UAlberta.

Study Abroad

During your studies you can participate in either an Exchange or a Short-term Program.

Exchange Programs usually last for either one or two terms (half or a full year), and students will study at leading universities around the world with local students in that country. UAlberta has formal exchange agreements with nearly 150 institutions around the world.

Short-term Programs often take place over the summer, and are a great way to gain academic credit, learn a new language, or explore a different country. These programs can last anywhere from a few weeks to a few months.

Work Abroad

A work abroad experience, either an internship or research placement, is a great way to gain professional experience while broadening your cultural horizons in another country.

UAlberta students often have placements with major corporations, leading universities and research institutions, or well-known international organizations.
