The Faculty of ALES and its four departments host several annual public lectures and conferences, listed below.

Banff Pork Seminar
A technology transfer meeting for the pork industry held every year in Banff, Alberta.

Biorefining Strategic Retreat 
Usually held every fall, the retreat brings together stakeholders to discuss strategies to advance Alberta’s bioeconomy with a focus on developing and commercializing biomass conversion technologies.

The Bentley Lecture in Sustainable Agriculture
Features a prominent speaker from academia or industry who covers a relevant issue related to sustainable agriculture.

The Empey Lecture
Features a prominent speaker who covers a key issue related to family studies, material culture, clothing & textiles or nutrition.

The Forest Industry Lecture Series 
Held twice a year, the Forest Industry Lecture Series features a prominent researcher or industry representative discussing a significant forestry issue.

Western Canadian Dairy Seminar

The seminar brings together the world’s top researchers in dairy to Red Deer, Alberta every year with producers, extension specialists and dairy supply and service representatives to discuss the latest knowledge and best practices.
