There are several programs designed to provide funding for summer staffing opportutnities.
Canada Summer Jobs
Provides funding to create jobs for people between 15 and 30 years old who are full-time students intending to return to their studies in the next school year.

International Student Work Study Program
Provides funding for University of Alberta departments to hire international undergraduate students, providing them with opportunities to gain valuable Canadian work experience and develop skills to enhance their employability.
Summer Temporary Employment Program
STEP is a 4- to 16-week wage subsidy program that provides funding to eligible Alberta employers to hire high school or post-secondary students into summer jobs from May to August.
Metis Youth Summer Placement Program
Provides funding equal to minimum wage to create jobs for Métis people between 15 and 30 years old who intend to return to their studies in the next school year.
