The Student Services Coordinator and Student Advisors from the Undergraduate Student Services office can advise you on specific inquiries you may have about your program and academic record. 

Bonnie Bourdin

Student Advisor

Bonnie has been with ALES for over 20 years, she is very dedicated and passionate about the students within the Faculty. She considers her students as part of her extended family, and will do anything to help them succeed. Bonnie loves to travel, her puppy, knitting and crafting.

Stephanie Dickie

Student Services Coordinator

As the Student Services Coordinator, Stephanie cares that students feel listened to and supported when they come to the ALES Undergraduate Office no matter what brings them in. She is a visual and
textile artist and maker and the exhausted owner of an adorable rescue dog. Steph is committed to supporting LGBTQ2S rights and intersectional feminism on campus and in the community.

Marly Johnson

International Student Advisor

As an international student advisor, Marly is passionate about supporting students as they transition into living and studying here in Edmonton. Before moving to Alberta to pursue a career in post-secondary education, Marly taught English in Incheon, South Korea. She is an avid baker, podcast enthusiast and loves crafty pursuits like crocheting, knitting and sewing. Marly recently finished her Master of Library and Information Studies degree here at the University of Alberta.

Alexia Wright

Team Lead, Undergraduate Program Administration

As Team Lead, Alexia is passionate about supporting her team in providing excellent and innovative services to all ALES undergraduate students.  Alexia is an avid symphonic metal fan and animal lover. She speaks German and Spanish and she is currently completing an MA in Higher Education with a focus on gender equality.

Jillian Pratt

Recruiting Specialist

Whether it’s through bringing an owl to Open House or hosting an ALES cooking challenge, Jillian brings creativity to her role as the Faculty recruiter. When she’s not in the office, you will find Jillian hiking, spending time with her dog, Murphy, or working on her MA in Conflict Analysis and Management.

Madison Biem

Student Advisor

As a Student Advisor Madison is passionate about providing support to students of ALES during their journey at the University of Alberta. Madison is very extroverted and loves talking with students about what they are studying/passionate about. Madison loves Restorative Justice, travel, raccoons, cats, yoga and Orange Theory.

Murphy - the wellness dog


The Faculty of ALES is pleased to announce the addition of their newest staff member, Murphy the wellness dog! Murphy enjoys walks in the park, belly rubs, offering his paw in the hope he will receive a treat and chasing balls. In his spare time, Murphy enjoys long naps, wearing bowties, and being a good boy. Murphy is wellness certified through the Chimo Animal Assisted Wellness and Learning Society (CAAWLS).
