Student Engagement Fund

The Faculty of Agricultural, Life & Environmental Sciences aspires to create an exceptional and life-changing experience for students through co-curricular and extra-curricular offerings that integrate learning, discovery and citizenship to develop the intellect and the imagination, educate leaders and enhance a global perspective.

The Student Engagement Fund (SEF) provides financial support for our undergraduate students or Student Clubs undertaking a co-curricular initiative that enriches the educational experience (i.e. an activity not directly associated with an academic course, but related to academic programming). Individual students, Student Clubs, and faculty or staff who are coordinating co-curricular events on behalf of ALES undergraduate students are eligible to apply. Students are permitted to apply for funding through the SEF once per academic year, though, preference will be given to those students who have not received funding in previous years.

The amount awarded will be determined by the quality of the proposal, how well the activity fits the criteria, the amount requested and the availability of funds. The maximum award amounts will normally be:

For individual student activities - maximum of 50% of the total activity cost up to $250
For individual student activities involving international travel (outside of Canada/US) - maximum of 50% of the total activity cost up to $500
For ALES Student Clubs and other groups - maximum of 50% of the total activity cost up to $1000

The activity for which you are seeking funding must occur within the 6 months prior to or 6 months following the application deadline. Funds will not be distributed until proof of expenses paid is submitted (i.e. airfare receipt for travel, invoice and receipt for program expenses or accommodations, etc.).

INDIVIDUAL APPLICATION (for all ALES students applying for independent activities as well as students participating in a group activity who are paying their own expenses and would, therefore, need to be reimbursed individually)

GROUP APPLICATION (for ALES Student Clubs or other groups to which a single payment would be made)
