Student Scholarships

The following awards are supported by the Alumni Association, its affinity partners, alumni, and their families, but administered by the Office of the Registrar and Student Awards.

Alumni 75th Anniversary Scholarship ($3,000)
Endowed by the University of Alberta Alumni Association, this scholarship was established in 1983 to celebrate the University's 75th birthday. Information about deadlines can be found on the Undergraduate Leadership Award website.

Alumni Advantage Scholarship ($2,500)
The University of Alberta Alumni Association supports this award, which was created in 1999 for alumni or the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren of U of A alumni. There are two $2500 scholarships available, one for students who have completed 119 university credits or less and one for students who have completed 120 university credits or more.

Honourable Dr Lois E. Hole Student Spirit Award ($7,500)
Begun in 2005, the Alumni Recognition Awards honour an exemplary U of A student with a $7,500 award. Application forms are available each spring; deadline to apply is June 1st. Information about the award and application process can be found in the Undergraduate Leadership Awards for Continuing Students section of the Office of the Registrar and Student Awards.

Maimie S. Simpson Memorial Scholarship, ($2,000)
Endowed by the University of Alberta Alumni Association, this award recognizes Maimie S. Simpson for her longstanding service as the University's Dean of Women. Applications accepted in the fall semester; deadline is mid-October.

Reginald Charles Lister Memorial Scholarship ($2,500)
The University of Alberta Alumni Association endows this award, which was established in honour of Reginald Lister for his dedication as superintendent of student residences. Applications accepted in the fall semester; deadline is mid-October.

TD Insurance Meloche Monnex Leadership Award ($1,000)
This award, which was created in 2005, is open to the children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren of University of Alberta alumni. To be eligible, you may not have more than 119 credits.

Supplementary Bursary Program Information

Supplementary Bursaries (SBs) are intended to provide financial aid to students who are experiencing a financial shortfall in the current academic year. SBs range from $100 to $3,000. Private donors and the University of Alberta provide funding for the Supplementary Bursary (SB) program.

Applications and more information are available through University Bursaries and Emergency Funding (UBEF).

**Applications are available for six weeks each year beginning December 1st with a submission deadline of January 15th.**
