Our UAlberta campus and alumni community are thriving thanks in part to the time, talent and energy of our dedicated volunteers. Your contributions are vital to all that we do, and to thank you for the difference you’ve made, we invite you take advantage of our volunteer perks.
UAlberta alumni or student volunteers can redeem their volunteer time for Bookstore Bucks. Once you’ve accumulated a minimum of 10 volunteer hours, you’re eligible to “cash out” your hours for a gift card to the UAlberta Bookstore (in-person or online). Submit your hours after volunteering and simply contact the volunteer team when you hit your magic number and a gift card will be sent to you. (Maximum of 100 hours can be redeemed. Current staff/faculty are not eligible for this program.)
Our volunteers are eligible for discounted tickets to select alumni, faculty and university events ranging from lectures to family-friendly activities. Such discounts will be communicated in our volunteer e-newsletter or through special emails.

Volunteer Award Nominations
At the annual Alumni Awards, some volunteers may be nominated for the Alumni Service Award, which recognizes alumni who have demonstrated an extraordinary level of commitment, dedication and volunteer service to the University of Alberta. Up to three Alumni Service Awards are given out every year.
At least once a year, volunteers are invited to enjoy an exclusive appreciation event. Past events have featured rock climbing at the UAlberta Climbing Centre, a paint night at Dewey’s and jam-making with Fruits of Sherbrooke. Invitations to such events will be emailed to all recently active volunteers.
Letters of Recommendation
Upon request, we are able to provide letters of recommendation for long-term volunteers and can provide confirmation letters of volunteer commitment for all other volunteers.
