Bookstore Bucks

Wear your green and gold pride with the Bookstore Bucks program! Cash-in your volunteer time for credits that can be used to purchase merchandise at the University of Alberta Bookstore, in person or online, or at the Augustana Bookstore, in person.

Who can earn Bookstore Bucks?

Only individuals who are UAlberta alumni volunteering in an approved program/event are eligible to participate. Other volunteer opportunities across campus may be approved for this program. If you are unsure whether a volunteer opportunity qualifies, please contact us.

How do I earn Bookstore Bucks?

After volunteering at an approved event or program, submit your hours to accumulate Bookstore Bucks. Each volunteer will be responsible for reporting their own hours. Hours must be submitted within three months of when they are worked or they will be forfeited.

How do I receive my Bookstore Bucks?

Once you have accumulated a minimum of 10 volunteer hours, you are eligible to "cash out" your hours for a bookstore gift card. When you are ready to redeem your hours, simply contact us and a gift card will be sent to you. If you request your gift card to be mailed, please allow five to 10 business days for processing and shipping.

Is there a limit on how many Bookstore Bucks I can earn?

Yes. You may submit, accumulate and cash out a maximum of 100 volunteer hours per calendar year (Jan. 1 to Dec. 31).

Do Bookstore Bucks expire?

Gift cards do not expire. Volunteer hours that have been submitted may be cashed out for Bookstore Bucks up to two years from the date the hours are worked, or until the closure of this rewards program. It is a volunteer's responsibility to track their own hours and cash out before the hours expire.

Participation in this rewards program is completely optional. Alumni volunteers can earn one Bookstore Buck per hour volunteered. One Bookstore Buck is equivalent to $1 (CAD), redeemable in the form of a gift card to the University of Alberta Bookstore or the Augustana Bookstore.
