Dr. Siljo Sebastian - New Addition to Advanced Anesthesia Fellowship Program

We are pleased to announce the arrival of our first Advanced Anesthesia Fellow, Dr. Siljo Sebastian. The Advanced Anesthesia Fellowship involves gaining experience in the anesthetic management of all types of surgeries carried out at University of Alberta and Sturgeon Hospitals with the exception of cardiac anesthesia.

As the University of Alberta Hospital is a tertiary care trauma centre, particular experience in managing blunt and penetrating trauma will be gained during this fellowship as well as opportunities to be exposed to regional anesthesia and at the Sturgeon Hospital obstetrical anesthesia. Fellows will also work in the Pre-Admission Clinic in rotation with staff. Siljo completed his medical school and residency in India before moving to Edmonton.

 Dr. Simone Derzi - New Addition to Clinical Scholar Program

S Derzi We are pleased to announce the arrival of our next Clinical Scholar, Dr. Simone Derzi. She will be   joining the Clinical Scholar Program which is designed for IMG trained Anesthesiologists to complete   a three-year term in the Edmonton Zone. The scholars work a 0.8 Clinical FTE and a 0.2 FTE in   Research, Education or Quality Improvement, while working towards completing their FRCPC.

Simone completed her medical school and anesthesiology residency in Brazil. She went on to complete three fellowships in Ontario and Quebec. One in OB anesthesia, and two in cardiac anesthesia. She is currently working on finishing her masters in Epidemiology at the University of Ottawa. She is a gym lover and avid learner. She is passionate about anesthesia and critical care. She confesses to be addicted to movies/series and is a recent Bitcoin learner.
