Updates on some current and former student awards - scholarships - jobs

At a recent Department Council meeting, some faculty members reported on the "goings-on" of several current and former students.

  • Jennifer Hallson has won the Roger S. Smith award for a proposal to work on Jack Ives' Apachean Origins project in Utah and continue with field school analysis from the Ahai Mneh site near Lake Wabamun;
  • Janelle Baker has won a Vanier Scholarship;
  • Andrea Molnar (MA 1990) has been named a "2013-2017 Presidential Engagement Professor" at Northern Illinios University. She has held a tenured position at NIU since 1996;
  • Nicole Burt has accepted a Post Doctoral position at Harvard University Department of Human Evolutionary Biology, working with PI Noreen Tuross whose research focus is on the effect of digestion on stable oxygen isotopes;
  • Ross Gordon has received The Association for Social Anthropology in Oceania (ASAO) Grant to Return Indigenous Knowledge to Pacific Islands Communities (GRIKPIC)
