From November 28-30, 2018, four University of Alberta Faculty of Arts students attended the Peace Summit of Emerging Leaders hosted in Bangkok, Thailand.

Held at the United Nations Conference Centre, the Peace Summit of Emerging Leaders is a conference coordinated by the NGO Humanitarian Affairs Asia with approximately 500 emerging world leaders participating over three days. The Summit aims to nurture youth leaders into Peace Ambassadors who will lead initiatives of their own, and encourage other youth to play an active role in building inclusive and harmonious societies.

These four students are Madisen Gee (English Major), Peiv Mohammed (Political Science Major), Jenny Huang (Human Geography Major) and Idara Effiom (Psychology Major).

Through this unique and powerful experience in meeting remarkable Peace Ambassadors from around the world, these Arts students gained new perspectives on issues and topics that are currently integrated within each of their respective academic studies and extra-curricular activities.

In this video, the students share some of their experiences from the conference, and how they plan to apply their takeaways to their own humanitarian initiatives.
