UAlberta Grant Application Deadlines

2018 - 2019 Key UAlberta Grant Application Deadlines

Notice about Deadlines:
Researchers should plan to have applications completed approximately three weeks prior to the funding agency’s deadline.  This is necessary due to UAlberta’s internal review and approval process, which involves obtaining signatures from your Chair, the Faculty, and the RSO.  The deadline for the Faculty to transfer applications to the RSO is five business days (one week) prior to the agency deadline – and this is extended to eight business days for Insight and Insight Development Grants.  The Faculty’s deadline for receiving your completed application is five business days (one week) prior to the RSO deadline.  And, finally, your chair needs to review and sign off on your application before it is submitted to the Faculty Office.

Killam Submissions:  The Office of the VPR requires two copies - a hard copy delivered to their office, plus an electronic copy submitted via e-mail.  Moreover, the application must be accompanied by a new project signature page, and there are four signatures required on both the application and the 'signature page': applicant, Chair, Faculty ADR, and RSO.  So, after you and your Chair have signed off, you will need to do the following: (i) drop the hard copy off at the Faculty Office, where it will be reviewed, signed, and left for you to pick up; (ii) take the hard copy from the Faculty Office to the RSO, where it will be reviewed, signed, and left for you to pick up; (iii) take the hard copy from the RSO, scan it to create a PDF that you can submit via e-mail, and then deliver the hard copy to the office of the VPR.

SAS & Conference Fund Submissions:  Beginning with the fall 2018 SAS competition, applications will be submitted through our new online application form.  Faculty of Arts Conference Grant applications should, as always, be forwarded to resarts@ualberta.ca. A new project signature page is NOT required with either of these applications.

TLEF Submissions For TLEF submissions, the CTL office requires two copies – a hard copy delivered to their office, plus an electronic copy submitted via e-mail.  Applications must be accompanied by a new project signature page.  After you and your Chair have signed off, you will need to do the following: (i) drop the hard copy off at the Faculty Office, to the attention of Ms. Kelly Gray, where it will be reviewed, signed, and left for you to pick up; (ii) take the hard copy from the Faculty Office to the RSO, where it will be reviewed, signed, and left for you to pick up; (iii) take the hard copy from the RSO, scan it to create a PDF that you can submit via e-mail, and then deliver the hard copy to the CTL office.

All Other Submissions:  Once your application is completed and you have produced a new project signature page, your Chair must review your application and sign off. Then, the signature page, application, and any supporting documents should be forwarded to the Faculty of Arts Research Office (resarts@ualberta.ca) as a single PDF document. Once your application has been reviewed by the Associate Dean (Research), you will be provided with comments while the application is transferred to the RSO for final review. (Note: After you hear back from the RSO, please aim to submit your application submitted the day before the deadline, this ensures sufficient time for the RSO to complete the online institutional approval which finalizes your submission.)
