Violinists Laura Andriani and Guillaume Tardif lead listeners on a tour of violin history. Rarely heard duets by French and Italian Baroque and Classical masters will delight the ear with delicate melodic counterpoint, while a new work by Howard Bashaw forecasts the sounds of the future.

Violinist Guillaume Tardif is often featured as a violin soloist and artist-teacher in Canada and abroad. Each year, he leads several research projects in performance, including premieres, recitals, chamber music and solos with orchestra. He has produced recordings, authored scholarly articles and introduced original violin arrangements and cadenzas to various concertos.
Tardif graduated with the First Prize in Violin at the Conservatoire in Quebec, earned distinctions at the Canadian Music Competition, and received the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester.
He is an Associate Professor at the Department of Music, University of Alberta. www.guillaume.tardif.com
Laura Andriani excels in répertoire from classic to contemporary eras - both as a soloist and chamber musician - as well as having experience with baroque music.
She studied with the members of the Amadeus Quartet, the Smetana Quartet, the Quartetto Italiano and she graduated at the Music-Akademie der Stadt Basel with Adelina Oprean. Her mentors have been Franco Gulli, Salvatore Accardo and Sigiswald Kuijken.
As first violin of the Alcan Quartet, she performed in Europe, Canada, the United States, China and Korea and recorded many albums including the complete Beethoven Quartets Cycle. She has also been a part of ensembles specializing in the interpretation of contemporary music and orchestras such as the Philharmonic Orchestra of La Scala (Milan). She won the Special Jury Prize for her performance of the Sequenza VIII by Berio at the 44th International Competition Premio Paganini in Genoa.
