The Faculty of Arts Undergraduate Student Services office puts on a number of events throughout the year for its students. As we get ready for the start of Fall term 2020, planning for virtual events is underway! Check back often as new events and initiatives are announced.

Break Time with Brooklyn 99 Winter 2020 All Dates

Break Time with Brooklyn 99

On the last Monday of the month (fall term: September, October and November; winter term: January, February and March) take a break and watch reruns of the tv show Brooklyn 99 while enjoying free coffee and donuts.

What: Watch Brooklyn 99 + drink coffee + eat donuts
Where: Humanities Centre Lecture 3 (HC L3)
When: 12 - 12:50 PM on the last Monday of the month

RSVP to the Mon. Jan. 27 Facebook Event so we can be sure to order enough donuts! (RSVP appreciated but not required)

Brain Break

The Faculty of Arts is helping fuel your studies. Stop by one of three locations (FAB, HC and Tory) to get free snacks like granola bars, fruit leather, cheese strings and more during exams!

Gratitude Tree

Fall is a time to reflect. Stop by the Fishbowl and share what you are grateful for! Once the tree is full of gratitude it will have a home in the USS lobby until the winter holiday season.

What: Write down what you are grateful for and add a leaf to our tree
Where: 2nd Floor Humanities Centre - Fishbowl
When: Wednesday, Oct. 9 from 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

CAAWLS Dogs Stop By - Come Get Your Cuddle On!

Stop by the Fishbowl (2nd Floor Humanities Centre) and cuddle with Charlie, one of the cute dogs of CAAWLS. These wellness dogs sure know how to make everyone feel more relaxed, calm and happy! We know you're busy with midterms and papers, but stop by even for a few minutes - you'll be glad you did!

What: Visit with Charlie, a CAAWLS wellness dog

Info Sessions and PD Events - Coming Up!

Faculty of Arts New Student Orientation

Welcome to the Faculty of Arts! In addition to Week of Welcome (WOW) and New Student Orientation put on by the Students' Union and the Dean of Students office, we - the Faculty of Arts - will have additional information just for Arts students.

As a new, incoming Arts student, you will be able to access the "Faculty of Arts New Student Orientation" in your eClass starting in mid-August. On Monday, August 24, 2020 you will also start receiving the Arts student e-newsletter. Be sure to check your email address  - it'll have "Arts Student Updates" as part of the subject line and come from the Arts Undergraduate Student Services office (

There will NOT be any in-person Arts events, however we are finalizing plans for a number of VIRTUAL, live Zoom webinars and Q&As from August 24 - 28, 2020.

Get your FREE popcorn and stop in to chat with representatives from departments and programs at the Arts Expo. Talk with upper-year students, undergraduate advisors, program directors and profs to discover all your options within the Faculty of Arts. Find out all the different majors, minors and certificates available to you. Learn how you can incorporate Arts Work Experience, Community-Service Learning or studying abroad.

The University of Alberta hosts an Info Week for High School Students every year. Running January 28, 29 and 30 this year, these tours, presentations and Q&A sessions will give you the chance to discover all your options! No RSVP required.

U of A Open House

What: Booth Fair, tours, presentations and more!
Where: Butterdome (Universiade Pavillion)
When: Saturday, October 19, 2019 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The U of A Open House is the day for future students to learn all about the University, and especially all about Arts. It's not just for future students though! Current students are encouraged to attend as well.

Explore your options for customizing your degree. Visit department booths to learn about options for majors, double majors, honors, certificates and experiential learning opportunities.
