Pre-Employment eClass and Career Education

AWE Pre-employment eClass

Upon acceptance into AWE, AWE staff will enroll you in the Pre-employment eClass, which must be completed prior to applying for AWE job opportunities in campusBRIDGE. Failure to successfully complete the Pre-employment eClass by the deadlines outlined in the eClass will result in your withdrawal from AWE. There are no academic penalties or indications of being withdrawn from AWE; however, if you do not complete this eClass you will not have access to AWE-specific resources and support.

Career Education

Participating in the Career Education associated with AWE is very important to help you effectively navigate through and succeed in the work search process. This career education is intended to help you gain the maximum benefit from your work experience and to increase your employability skills as you progress in your career. AWE offers a mix of Individual Advising Sessions as well as group Workshops which help ensure your success in AWE and in your post graduate work search.

AWE offers a number of Career Education opportunities to assist you in your work search. It is very important to participate in the Career Education offerings to help you effectively navigate through and succeed in the work search process.

Resume & Cover Letter Review (MANDATORY)

Prior to applying for AWE job opportunities you MUST either: 

It is mandatory that you access one of the sessions or services outlined above to have your resume and cover letter reviewed before applying to your first AWE job opportunity.

You can access the following services by booking an Advising Appointment with the Career Centre or Career Coaching with your Work Experience Coordinator:

  • Mock Interview
  • LinkedIn Profile Critique

Career Coaching:
Students have access to ongoing Career Coaching with their Work Experience Coordinator. AWE staff are available to meet with you to reinforce concepts learned in your Individual Advising Appointments, workshops or they can provide general advice and support to assist with your experience in AWE. In Career Coaching we can help give your resume a final review, practice for interviews, or to discuss your work search process as some examples. You can book a Career Coaching session at any point with your Work Experience Coordinator by email. Please try to book your coaching well in advance of application deadlines or interviews. However we do recognize that some interview opportunities do come up fast, so please contact us ASAP to book your session and we will do our best to accommodate your request.

Workshops
Workshops provide specialized training for AWE students who are engaged in their work search. We offer workshops on topics within career education such as skill identification, work search strategies, resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn, Interviews and transition to the workplace. These sessions will help to expand on the topics you learned in Individual Advising Appointments and in Career Coaching, while receiving some insider tips and suggestions from some of our AWE employer partners.
