Golden Bears and Pandas host Winnipeg in their home-opener, while Cross-Country heads to Kingston for Nationals

U SPORTS Championship – November 9, 2019

Story Lines: 

Two weeks after their strong showings at the Canada West Championship in Calgary, the Bears and Pandas XC teams head to Kingston for the 2019 U SPORTS National Championship. 
The Bears earned a Canada West silver medal, which marked their highest team finish since a silver in 2006. The Bears have been ranked nationally since September 24th, with a season-high rank of No. 5. 
The Pandas finished 6th at the Canada West Championship, and are led by conference all-star Jasmine Feddema, who placed 10th in Calgary.

Story Lines: 
The Pandas are coming off a series split against Lethbridge on the road last weekend, while Winnipeg swept Fraser Valley at home in their season-opening series. 
The Alberta women displayed their scoring depth in Lethbridge, with four different Pandas scoring in double-digits over their two games. Megan Tywoniuk led the charge with 28 points over their two games, while forward Brooklyn Legault added 24 points and 12 rebounds.

Story Lines: 
In a battle of U SPORTS Top 10 teams, Alberta opened their season with a two-game sweep over the Pronghorns, highlighted by a 22-point win on Saturday.
Sophomore forward Adam Paige scored a career-high 30 points in just 22 minutes on Saturday, shooting 63% from the field, adding six rebounds and a steal. 
This is the first meeting between Alberta and Winnipeg since November 2017.

Story Lines: 
The top two teams in Canada West meet for the first time this weekend, as the Bears and Dinos battle in a home-and-home series. Alberta (14) leads Calgary (13) but just one point through eight games. 
The Dinos are the second-highest scoring team in Canada West with 35 goals in eight games, being led by scoring leader Matt Alfaro (8 goals, 17 points). 
Alberta has won three-straight, having outscored their opponents 14-2. The Bears only have one player in the top 10 in scoring (Grayson Pawlenchuk – 9 points), but have shown incredible depth with 13 different goal scorers this season.
