Strathcona, St. FX, Harry Ainlay and Archbishop O'Leary to play at Saville on Saturday night

    December 5, 2018

The three-time national champion Alberta Golden Bears will host their annual high school showcase this Saturday night at the Saville Community Sports Centre.

The event will feature games between the Strathcona Lords and St. FX Rams at 5:00 p.m., and the Harry Ainlay Titans and Archbishop O'Leary Spartans at 7:00 p.m.

"It's always great to have some of the best high school basketball players in the city come through and play on our U of A campus." said Bears head coach Barnaby Craddock. "The crowds are big every year and we are all looking forward too seeing these young guns light it up at Saville centre on Saturday night!"

The Golden Bears also have strong ties to both St. FX and Harry Ainlay, as three current Bears graduated from those two Edmonton High Schools. Rookies Lars Ishimwe and Brandon Mieklejohn both came to the Bears from Harry Ainlay, while second-year Bear Geoffrey James graduated from St. FX.

Tickets for the Showcase are available at the door, with Adults getting in for $7, Students with valid ID for $2, with kids 5 and under getting in for free. Students from each of the four high schools will also all get in for free.
