EDMONTON - Less than a month after finishing his U SPORTS career with the Golden Bears, power forward Brody Clarke has signed a one-year contract with the Edmonton Stingers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League.
The Toronto, Ont. product was selected by the Singers in the 2019 U SPORTS draft, playing in six games last summer. Clarke averaged 5.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game and earned the first-ever CEBL U SPORTS Player of the Year award.
He played in 12 regular season and playoff games for the Bears in 2019/20, averaging 18.4 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game.
In five seasons with the Golden Bears, Clarke helped Alberta win the 2017 Canada West Championship, while also leading the Bears to a program record four-straight trips to the U SPORTS Championship. Clarke finished his university career as the Bears all-time leader in offensive rebounds (236), second in total rebounds (697), second in double-doubles (27), fourth in scoring (1,327) and fourth in blocked shots (79).
“Brody is the epitome of what we envision as an Edmonton Stinger,” said Stingers head coach and GM Jermaine Small. “He’s driven, professional and a winner dating back to high school. His rebounding, IQ and ability to score inside out immediately transfers to the pro game. I look forward to helping him prepare for which I believe will be a long professional career.”
The Edmonton Stingers will start their 2020 season on May 8 at the Expo Centre.
