EDMONTON - Four Alberta Golden Bears were honoured on Thursday afternoon, as Canada West unveiled the 2019 Football All-Star recipients.

Quarterback Brad Launhardt, receiver Ben Kopczynski, offensive lineman Carter O'Donnell, and safety Jayden Dalke were the four Golden Bears who earned all-star status on Thursday. For O'Donnell, it's his second career all-star honour, while each of the other three earned all-star status for the first time.

Launhardt led Canada West with 2,328 passing yards this season, finishing with nine touchdowns in eight games. The fourth-year Bear set program records for passing yards, completions (174) and pass attempts (284) this season, becoming the first Bears QB since Gerald Kunyk in 1974 to be named an all-star.

In just his third season as a receiver, Kopczynski led Canada West with 799 receiving yards and 53 receptions. His receiving total was the 5th most in program history, while he's the second Bear in three years to lead Canada West after Nathan Rowe did the same in 2017.

Paving the way for the Bears offence was O'Donnell, who started seven of his eight games at right tackle for Alberta. The fourth-year offensive lineman was ranked 11th in the CFL Prospects list last month, and is one of the most highly regarded lineman in Canada.

Dalke finished fifth in Canada West with 44.5 tackles this season, in his first season with the Green and Gold. He also added three interceptions, six pass breakups and one fumble recovery this season.
