EDMONTON - Golden Bears football alumni Carter O'Donnell signed a professional contract with the Indianapolis Colts of the National Football League, moments after the conclusion of the 2020 NFL Draft.
O'Donnell, a two-time Canada West All-Star and U SPORTS All-Canadian tackle went undrafted in the seven-round NFL draft, before signing a free-agent contract with the Colts on Saturday evening. As many as six teams showed interest in O'Donnell after the draft, according to TSN's Dave Naylor. Eight NFL teams were also scheduled to visit O'Donnell's Pro Day in March, before it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
The education student-athlete anchored the Bears offensive line that powered the way for 399 yards of total offence per game last season, and 5.2 yards per carry. O’Donnell was also one of two U SPORTS products to play in the 2020 East-West Shrine Bowl, this January in St. Petersburg, Florida.
