Just three months after winning winning his second-straight U SPORTS Defenceman of the Year Award, third-year Golden Bear Jason Fram has signed a professional contract with the Kunlun Red Star of the Kontinental Hockey League.

Fram becomes the fourth Bear to sign a professional contract since the end of the 2018/19 season, joining Zach Sawchenko (San Jose Barracuda), Stephane Legault (South Carolina Stingrays), and Luke Philp (Calgary Flames).

During his three season with the Golden Bears, Fram quickly established himself as the best defenceman in U SPORTS hockey. The Delta, BC native recorded 61 points in 68 career Canada West games, leading conference d-men with 30 points in 2018/19. Fram earned the Canada West Defenceman of the Year Award in 2018 and 2019, was a two-time U SPORTS All-Canadian, and captured consecutive national defenceman of the year awards.

Fram also helped the Bears win three-straight Canada West titles, and the 2018 University Cup in Fredericton, NB. Across all competitions, Fram finishes his varsity career with 35 goals and 98 points in 110 games.

The former Spokane Chief captain, who has Chinese heritage, joins the only Chinese team in the KHL. The Kunlun Red Star joined the KHL for the 2016/17 season, and have made the post-season once in three seasons.
