2018 Pandas rugby scheduled announced

Pandas to host Canada West Championship at Foote Field in October

By Connor Hood on June 6, 2018

The University of Alberta Pandas rugby team will see quite a bit of action at Foote Field this upcoming Canada West season, with a pair of conference games at home, before hosting the Canada West Championship in October. It will be the first time since 2015, and the 6th time overall the Pandas have hosted the conference championship.

The 10-time Canada West champion Pandas open the 2018 season with a meeting with the Lethbridge Pronghorns on September 9th. Their other home game will come on October 4th as they host the two-time defending conference champion Calgary Dinos.

Alberta will visit both the Dinos and Pronghorns in mid-September, while also visiting the UBC Thunderbirds and Victoria Vikes in October.

The Pandas are looking to get back atop Canada West for the first time since 2014, which was also the last time they qualified for the national championship.

Rugby is the first Canada West sport to have their schedule released in June. Soccer (June 14th), Hockey (June 19th), Volleyball (June 20th), Basketball (June 21st) will all be released in the coming weeks.
