Bosch and Chung selected in Canadian Premier League draft

    Pair of Golden Bears selected in second-ever CPL-U SPORTS draft

    First-year Golden Bears midfielder Jake Bosch, and second-year midfielder David Chung were both selected by FC Edmonton in the 2019 CPL-U SPORTS Draft on Monday. 

    Chung was selected fourth overall by FC Edmonton, while Bosch was take with the fourth pick of the second round (11th overall). Chung finished third on the Bears with three points and 17 shots, starting in 10 matches in his sophomore season.

    In is rookie season, Bosch started in 13 games, finishing with five shots. Both Golden Bears are also graduates of the FC Edmonton Academy. 

    The 2019 CPL draft was the second for the league in their partnership with U SPORTS. Four Golden Bears were take in the inaugural draft last November. 

    This truly unique partnership between the CPL and U SPORTS provides student-athletes with an opportunity to be signed to a CPL-U SPORTS Developmental Contract. This will allow an athlete with one to four years of eligibility remaining to play with a CPL club in the spring and summer before returning to U SPORTS competition.
