Corbett, Vanderveen and Vong named Canada West All-Stars

    Corbett and Vong earn second career all-star nods, Vanderveen named all-rookie team member

    EDMONTON — The 2019 Canada West men's and women's soccer all-star and all-rookie teams were unveiled Thursday, as the conference gets set for playoff action this weekend.

    Pandas midfielder Morgan Corbett earned her second-consecutive conference all-star nod, while Golden Bears defender Janko Vong was also named an all-star for the second time in his career.

    First-year Panda defender Jordan Vanderveen was also named to the conference all-rookie team. 

    Corbett helped guide the Pandas to a 6-2-6 conference record, finishing with one goal and 15 shots in 10 conference games. Vong, meanwhile, finished his fourth season with the Bears with one goal and 14 shots in 14 matches, starting in every conference match for the 5-6-3 Golden Bears. 

    Corbett and the Pandas will take on the Fraser Valley Cascades on Friday night in a conference play-in-game. The Bears will also begin their postseason on Friday, as they visit the UBC Thunderbirds in Vancouver.
