Six current, former, or future Golden Bears volleyball athletes will participate with various Canadian National teams across the world this summer.

In addition to the athletes, three staff members will also be involved in various Canadian clubs throughout the summer.

Golden Bears alumni Brett Walsh (2012-2017) and Jason DeRocco (2005-2008) will compete with Canada in the Volleyball Nations League, which begins this weekend in Mendoza Argentina. The Canadian VNL team will also complete on home soil, June 7-9 in Ottawa.

Earlier this week, third-year Golden Bears middle George Hobern has been chosen to represent Team Canada at the 2019 Summer Universiade in Napoli, Italy.

The Sherwood Park, Alberta native finished second on the Bears with 0.80 blocks per set last season, and was named a U SPORTS Tournament All-Star at nationals at Laval.

Also in May, rookie Golden Bears Jordan Canham and Braedon Friesen were named to the Canadian Junior National Team

Golden Bears recruit Grayden Wiebe was also named to the 2019 Canadian Youth Volleyball team, who will compete in the USA HP Championships later this summer in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

Lastly, Bears coaches Kyle Erickson will coach with the 17U Alberta team, while Craig Marshall will be on the coaching staff for the 16U Alberta team at the Canada Cup and Western Canadian Games.
