Songs of Love & Loss is an exploration of music gathered across multiple genres to present cultural viewpoints of love and loss: journeying through a landscape of Ukrainian Art Songs set to poems of Taras Schevcheko, to the colourful sounds of Edith Piaf and the German cabaret, to favourite hits from the Operatic (Carmen, Tales of Hossmann, Marriage of Figaro) and Broadway stages (Phantom of the Opera, The Music Man, Les Misérables, Ragtime, and more) this eclectic mix of classical and classical crossover music is carefully woven together and united with visual images to paint a complete arc of human emotion.

Shaunna Shandro, originally from Edmonton, is instructor of Applied Voice and Fundamentals of Singing at St. Edward's University in Austin, Texas. She has been a faculty member of the Butler Opera Center Young Artists Program since 2014, and serves as Director of Music for Children and Youth at Westminster Presbyterian Church. She has received many honours, scholarships and awards throughout her career, and has performed frequently in Canada, the U.S., and Europe on both opera and musical theatre stages. The Austin Chronicle says the following about a recent performance of Shaunna's: "Mezzo soprano Shaunna Shandro was glorious…an obvious operatic talent."
