Dr. Hackborn came to Augustana in 1984. His teaching areas include calculus, linear algebra, mathematical modelling, numerical methods, and computer database systems. Dr. Hackborn likes to impress upon students both the utility and beauty of mathematics, and the important role mathematics has played in the development of the modern world. His research interests include applied mathematics (especially fluid dynamics) and chaos theory (the study of the surprising patterns and apparent randomness present in some basic processes of the natural world).

Rosanna Heise first started teaching at Augustana Campus in 1986. She has taught first year programming courses, computer hardware, software engineering, advanced programming languages, assembly language, circuit design and some mathematics courses. After working several years in an Artificial Intelligence laboratory, Rosanna’s emphasis is to make computer programming and mathematics accessible to everyone.

Dr. Kim teaches Artificial Intelligence, Automata and Complexity, and Programming languages courses. Her research interests are in the area of natural language processing, computational linguistics, machine learning, and text analytics. Her hobbies include playing the piano, swimming, and walking.
