Dr. Srilata Ravi, Professor (French)

Ph.D., University of Madras

Dr Srilata Ravi teaches French language and French & Francophone literatures. She has taught at the National University of Singapore and the University of Western Australia and has been at the University of Alberta since 2010. She received the award of Chevalier dans L’Orde des Palmes académiques in 2001 from the French Government for contributions to research and teaching. Her research interests include comparative francophonies; mobility studies; postcolonial studies; literary and cultural histories of the Indian Ocean.  She is the author of Rethinking Global Mauritius: Critical Essays on Mauritian Literatures and Cultures (2013); Ecritures mauriciennes au féminin: penser l'altérité (2011 with Véronique Bragard); Rainbow Colors-Literary Ethno-topographies of Mauritius  (2007); Asia in Europe, Europe in Asia (2004 with Mario Rutten and Beng Lan Goh).
