Geography is more than memorizing capital cities! Geography is an integrative, environmental discipline which straddles both the physical sciences and social sciences. Literally, geographers study the earth (In Greek, "geo" = earth and "graphy" = write). Augustana's goal of interdisciplinary learning is served well by geography since it overlaps with many other subject areas, but offers its own unique spatial perspective.
Geographers seek to understand and appreciate the dynamics of our rapidly-changing world. Geographers ask a lot of questions such as Where? Why? and When? Geographers also develop a variety of skills such as spatial analysis, data collection and processing, and an ability to synthesize information. This unique approach to learning and set of skills are much desired by employers today.
