Practicum Course: AUCSL 360/361

The Practicum Course is listed as AUCSL 360/361. This course includes an application process.

The application process helps the course instructor and Learning~Advising~Beyond (LAB) staff to identify your learning goals for CSL 360/361. Our aim is to coordinate a placement that matches your interests and learning goals to a partner organization's needs and available projects.

  • If you meet the criteria for the course you will be contacted by the LAB office for an interview. 
  • Review documents on this webpage before interview
  • After your interview you will be contacted as to whether or not you will be enrolled in the course.  

The process is not meant to deter students from participation in the course.

You should prepare your interview by reviewing the following course description. You should also be able to speak meaningfully about relevant CSL and/or volunteer experience or occasions for reflection.

*NOTE: the sooner you apply for this course, the more likely it is that LAB will find a placement.

AUCSL 360/361 Interest: 2018/2019
The Community-Service Learning Practicum course encompasses a range of experiential-learning opportunities for students. This iteration provides students the opportunity to think deeply about their unique experience in a hand-picked placement, and to reflect on a series of personalized learning goals. Available Fall 2018 11 week, Winter 2019 3 week, and Winter 2019 11 week.

AUCSL 361: Science Fair Mentor and/or Science Modules 2018/2019
CSL 361 has three versions available to students. A fall *3 option for the Science Fair, a winter *3 option for Science Modules, or a Full year *6 option for both the Science Fair and Science Modules.

AUCSL 360: FYS Student Tutors 2018/2019
If you are interested in being a Student Tutor for a First Year Seminar (FYS) course, you must first have a professor with whom you want to work. If you need to be connected with a professor please speak to the Learning~Advising~Beyond (LAB) staff.

AUIDS Student Leadership Positions 2018/2019
A requirement for the course is that you are in a leadership position at some point during the above academic year. Thus, you must be in a leadership role in the Fall 3, 11 or Winter 3, 11 (or, some combination of these).
