Costs

Arctic Course is offered in the winter term every other year with a three-week summer excursion to the Canadian arctic. A Mandatory Instructional Support Fee (MISF) will be charged in addition to regular University of Alberta tuition.

As this expedition is planned by students in the course, it is impossible to predict the exact MIS fee. Typically the MIS fee includes the following:

  • Most meals
  • All travel
  • All instructional fees
  • Use of all equipment other than that listed on personal clothing and equipment list (we supply tents, wetsuits, helmets, canoes, paddles, PFD’s, cooking equipment, backpacks, and more
  • Access to appropriate used clothing and supplies

The following costs are NOT typically included in the fee:

The allowable range for MIS fees for the 2018 Arctic Course is $2500-$5000. The payment schedule will be determined when the expedition is set.

Supplies:

While Augustana will supply some of the equipment for the expedition, students are required to provide personal clothing and equipment. Download the equipment list.

Students who lose or damage Augustana equipment may be required to pay for its replacement.
