Introduction to Outdoor Ed. - AU PED 184

As the gateway course in Outdoor Education, PED 184 introduces students to the academic rigor of the discipline and the vast rewards of interacting in a meaningful way with the natural world. The students take two out-trips during the semester: one 4-day hiking trip, and one 5-day canoe trip.

In addition to the in-class studies of group dynamics and conflict resolution, students are expected to apply these theories in their small groups on the trail and in the classroom.  Students are tasked with a research presentation in groups and negotiate varying visions on academic projects as well as outdoor living.
