Outdoor Pursuits

AUPAC 293 – Selected Topics – Outdoor Pursuits is a 13-day Experiential Learning course offering skill and leadership development in Flatwater and Moving Water Tandem Canoeing and Orienteering. Students will explore local canoeing locations while developing basic canoe skills prior to a 4 night/5 day trip to Rocky Mountain House where introductory moving water skills will be practiced on Class 1&2 sections of the North Saskatchewan River. Map, compass and basic navigation skills will be developed through day trips to local Parks and Provincial Recreation Areas.  

This course includes a community and skill building trip to Rocky Mountain House. Students will camp and cook as a class while staying in a front-country group campsite near the river. All transportation, food (except personal snacks), camping equipment with the exception of personal sleeping bags and clothing are included while outside of Camrose. A Mandatory Instructional (MIS) Fee will be assessed for this course.

The approximate MIS fee for 2017 is $350-450

Fall 2017 trip dates are September 6-10

NOTE: Course credit may only be obtained for one of AUPAC 293 or AUPAC 125 or AUPAC 226.
