Every year the University, together with the Universities of Calgary and Lethbridge, hold a weekend conference in October known as the Alberta Annual Biomedical Engineering Conference. The Conference is usually held at the Banff Centre, beginning on Friday evening and ending at noon on Sunday. It is casual and includes a large number of short talks and posters by graduate students presenting their research, and a few longer talks by professors, often from other institutes, discussing biomedical engineering subjects at a more general level. While the Conference requires a registration fee, this fee is often paid by the student's supervisor. The Conference is listed in the Department of Biomedical Engineering’s Website under Events and indicates how students may apply for funding to attend.
