Orthus Partners LLP
Brian Pohl is a Partner in Orthus Partners LLP, a UK-based investment firm which is a principal investor in under performing and financially distressed businesses.
OP's approach is similar to that taken by private equity; very hands-on and with expertise rarely found within investment managers / investment management firms. Mr Pohl has an established reputation for engaging in "difficult deals” and renegotiating troubled investments. Orthus Partners consistently deliver higher returns on investment by actively reducing risk and increasing business performance. Prior to forming Orthus Partners, Brian was CEO of a listed venture capital fund and grew its NAV by 1,100% over a three year period (with half the increase in realized cash). He also successfully negotiated and backed the first venture capital spin-out from the University of Oxford.
Brian Pohl completed a BSc (1988) and MBA (1990) from the University of Alberta and an MSc Finance (1999) from London Business School in the UK. He is a member of the Young President's Association (London Chapter) where he has served to chair various committees and events and served three years on London Business School's International Alumni Board.
Mr Pohl is also a keen swimmer, trains weekly with a London team, and has twice swam an open-water race from Asia to Europe across the Bosphorus.
